Baseball games at Werner Park, bowling parties, chili cook-off competitions, and many other activities are part of the several social engagements planned by the Central Staff Wellness Committee. Funds provided by the Central High Foundation allow the Committee to offer many diverse opportunities for teachers to get together beyond what their daily school schedule allows.
These events are crucial to helping staff feel appreciated by the school and its supporters. Wellness Committee Co-Chair, Mr. Jordan Boyer, believes that “a staff that spends time together, outside of the building, is a staff that stays together. I’m proud to be a part of a committee that is able to create a sense of community and pride in what we do at Central.” These events have a profound impact on the overall satisfaction of teaching at Central.
English teacher, Molly Mattison, commented that these events have had an impact on her. “The sense of camaraderie that has developed as a result of these activities has positively influenced my overall well-being. Knowing that I have a support system of friends at work has made it easier to navigate the challenges that come my way. It has also increased my job satisfaction and motivation because I feel more connected to the school community, and the Foundation’s role in making this possible is truly appreciated.”
