Alternate Curriculum students learn about cooking, food safety, and cleanliness
Project Proposal
To provide cooking ingredients and supplies for students in the Alternate Curriculum Program
Amount Funded
$400/year for three years
“Our students have few opportunities to cook with a parent or guardian and gain the hands-on experience that helps them remember the correct procedures and methods to correctly measure ingredients and prepare food.”
Students Impacted
30 students.
Commitment to Closing the Opportunity Gap
Of the 30 students, 27 received free lunch and 1 student received reduced lunch; additionally, this allows special education students a key skill ignored by academics.
Translation to College and Career Readiness
Learning the important life skill of cooking.
