Project Proposal
Funds will allow the OC Broadcasting Team to develop a live casting and pod casting platform where students will continue to learn how to effectively produce, announce, and broadcast CHS athletic, performing arts, and academic events, as well as alumni events.
Amount Funded
$13,000
Students Impacted
10 on the Broadcast Team but their work keeps thousands connected to Central High School!
Commitment to Closing the Opportunity Gap
The program gives any interested student an opportunity in an ever-growing field that allows them to get hands-on experience they can use right out of high school or in a college program. The experience challenges students to think on their feet, be creative, and drives them to compete, which are important life skills. A Central senior joined this year and has educated herself on running the video feed. Because of this experience, she has opportunities to use her talents beyond the limits of OC Broadcasting.
Translation to College and Career Readiness
The broadcasting field is changing every year – so much so that universities like UNL and UNO have rewritten their entire curriculum to adapt to these changes. OC Broadcasting teachers work with their students to develop opportunities outside of live streams, and students also learn and practice the skills necessary to successfully produce podcast interviews, photography, and graphic design.
