Counseling and mental health supported through Genderworks and Grief’s Journey conferences held in Omaha
Project Proposal
5 counselors and 1 school social worker at two conferences in Omaha to be supported for the advocacy for students dealing with their experiences and identity.
Amount Funded
$5,000/year for 3 years
“When students have more informed and knowledgeable advocates, they are able to perform to higher standards. Since every student has an assigned counselor, and every student accesses one-on-one counseling and classroom curriculum, every student is positively impacted.”
Students Impacted
All CHS students (approximately 2500) and all CHS staff (approximately 200) benefit from the increased knowledge of the School Counseling Department.
Commitment to Closing the Opportunity Gap
As all students are given the opportunity to work with a counselor, and all students have at least 2 one-on-one meetings with their assigned counselor, the program ensures stability and consistency for all students.
Translation to College and Career Readiness
Students are prepared for college through counselors with more up-to-date training, professional development, and resources to accommodate a constantly changing field.
