Susan Thompson Buffett’s leadership – psychologically and spiritually – in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s was responsible more than that of any other parent for “keeping Central Central.” The school was engulfed in deteriorating and inadequate facilities and demographic problems. As a proud Central graduate , who sent her three children to Central , she effectively lobbied the school board and community business leaders to raise funds from numerous sources to assure Central maintained its position as a quality institution. Susie and her three children continue to make significant civic, artistic, and social contributions to their communities. She serves as president of The Buffett Foundation.
Susie passed away in 2004 at the age of 72.
