Sharon Marvin has served as a volunteer for some of Omaha’s most significant civic institutions. Teaching and volunteering for the betterment of the community have been her life’s passion. The non-profit and community boards she served on over the last half century are almost too many to name. They include United Way of the Midlands, United Way of America, Joslyn Art Museum, Nebraska Museum of Art, Nebraska Arts Council, Nebraska Humanities, Children’s Hospital, Nebraska Statewide Drive for NET, University of Nebraska Medical Center, World-Herald Good Fellows, Junior League, Commercial Federal Cooperation, Suzanne and Walter Scott Foundation, Millard Foundation and Omaha Community Foundation, and she organized the Salvation Army Auxiliary. Sharon chaired most of those boards, led countless related committees and received numerous awards from those organizations. Omaha philanthropist Walter Scott Jr. called Marvin an “indefatigable volunteer,” saying her contributions to Omaha’s civic life are nearly unmatched. In 1989, she launched a real estate career with the same dedication to helping others that marked her civic life. She quickly established herself as an elite agent for NP Dodge, earning all of the company’s top awards for sales and service.
