As head of Central’s English department, Sara Vore Taylor in 1921 copyrighted her Style Book for Theme Writing and Revision. Her creation , providing practice sheets for grammar problems and a form for theme writing, is still used by Central students to this day and has been adopted by many high schools nationwide. During her 30 years as Central’s Constructive English chair from 1910 to 1940, she published numerous pamphlets and poems. As director of South Omaha High’s English department from 1903 to 1910, she sponsored that school’s first school newspaper, the Tooter. She was a charter member of Delta Delta Delta sorority at the University of Nebraska and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
Sara passed away in 1964 at the age of 88.
