Robert M. Spire served as Nebraska’s attorney general from 1985 to 1990 . During World War II, he was a U.S. Army officer with the 25th Infantry Division in the South Pacific. He was both an attorney (Harvard Law School) and a pianist (Julliard School of Music). He developed and implemented Nebraska’s program for attorneys in private practice to provide pro bono legal services for the community . He chaired and served on numerous organizations including the Nebraska State Bar Association (as president) and the Omaha University Board of Regents.
Robert passed away in 1994 at the age of 68.
