Ray Gaines is a surgeon and medical educator who has taught over 300 physicians in surgery training programs in Nebraska and Michigan. His professional priorities include improvement of health care delivery and outcome for patients with cancer, morbid obesity, hypertension and traumatic injuries. Dr. Gaines is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery and Director of the Trauma Service at Creighton University Medical Center. He is also Chief of General Surgery Service at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. Gaines serves as Regional Medical Director in the Nebraska State Trauma System, is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of numerous other professional organizations. His extensive community service includes presidency of the Douglas-Sarpy County Division of the Nebraska Heart Association and the Nebraska Division of the American Cancer Society.
Ray passed away in 2010 at the age of 78.
