Over her 30 year career as an educator, Ramona served the students, parents, teachers, and community associated with the Omaha Public Schools in an exemplary fashion. She served at several elementary schools, including as a teacher at Franklin and Martin Luther King, as an administrative intern at Irvington/Masters, and as principal at Highland, Laura Dodge, and Lothrop. Along the way she completed her B.S. and M.S. at UNO and her Ed.D. at UNL. In addition to her OPS career, Dr. Bartee also served Omaha’s university community as an adjunct professor at UNO, the College of St. Mary, and Creighton University. In her work at Creighton, she also held the position of Director of Teacher Certification & Placement. Dr. Bartee has also served the community as a board member of Voices for Children, the College of St. Mary, and others. The lives and careers of both Dr. Ramona Bartee and her husband, Dr. Jerry Bartee, an OPS assistant superintendent, exemplify the meaning of the phrase, “providing dedicated service to the community.”
