Peter Hoagland served three terms in the U.S. House of Representatives from Nebraska’s second district from 1989 to 1995. His committee assignments include Banking, Finance, and Urban Affairs; Small Business; Interior and Insular Affairs; Judiciary; and Ways and Means. He sponsored the Niobrara Wild and Scenic Rivers Act and supported funding for anti-drug programs and boot camps for young offenders. Hoagland also served in the Nebraska Legislature from 1979 to 1987. He was chairman of both the Judiciary and Rules committees and sponsored tougher drunk driving laws and ground water protection measures. While in Omaha at the time of an election, Hoagland made a point of talking to Central government classes the day after the voting whether he had won or lost. A graduate of Stanford University and Yale Law School, he currently practices law in Washington, D.C.
Peter passed away in 2007 at the age of 65.
