It would be hard to find a pair of Central grads who have given back more to the school than Mike and Susan, whose generosity and leadership has impacted thousands of Central students and will countless more into the future. The two attended Central together before both going on to successful professional careers in Omaha. Susan earned a law degree from Creighton University and spent 30 years in the legal department of Mutual of Omaha, retiring as associate general counsel. Mike spent 30 years as an executive at Omaha energy company Tenaska, helping to develop, design, construct and operate power generation facilities around the country and world. In addition to other community involvement, both became active leaders in the CHS Foundation. Susan joined the Foundation board in 2007, served a stint as president and was a leader in establishing the school’s legacy endowment. She and Mike also led the project to illuminate the building’s exterior and chaired the annual Generation “C” campaign. Mike followed Susan on to the Foundation board in 2014 and chaired the committee spearheading the major Arts and Library Addition on the school’s east side. Mike was cochairman of the fundraising for the project, and he and Susan made a substantial donation toward its completion. When completed in 2018, the addition will stand as a legacy for their love and support for Central.
