Throughout his life, Marc Kraft has led an active role throughout Omaha, including his involvement with its schools, neighborhoods, businesses and government. Before graduating from Central in 1966, Mr. Kraft attended Dundee Elementary and Lewis and Clark Middle School. After Central, Mr. Kraft graduated from Creighton University in 1971 with a degree in mathematics. Mr. Kraft has been an active leader in Omaha’s business community, especially Downtown Omaha, where his business, Kraft DC Furniture and More, has been located for more than 30 years. During his eight years on the Omaha City Council, Mr. Kraft served on many Council committees and with his support, Roberts Skate Park was created, funding for public libraries improved and smoking restrictions were enacted. In addition, Mr. Kraft was a strong advocate for Omaha’s neighborhoods, supporting initiatives proposed by neighborhood associations across the city. Mr. Kraft has been actively involved with numerous service and business organizations including Downtown Omaha, Inc., the Cosmopolitan Club, the BSA, the Leavenworth Business Association, the Old Market Business Association, the Sister City Association, the Public Art Commission, and the Jewish Community Center.
Marc passed away in 2024 at the age of 77.
