Judy taught for 27 years at Central, serving as chair of the Special Education Department, where she was active in the lives of students and was a mentor to fellow faculty. After graduating with an education degree from UNO in 1980, Judy launched her 32-year OPS teaching career, joining the Central staff in 1985. In addition to teaching, she served as sponsor for the Student Council and helped coordinate the spring prom for 20 years. She received the National Association of Student Councils Award for Leadership of Youth in 2005 and the Alice Buffett Outstanding Teacher Award in 2008. In retirement, Judy continues to substitute teach at Central and is a regular at Eagle activities. Her children, Central graduates Jennifer and Matt, followed her into education in OPS, Matt now a physical education teacher and wrestling coach at Central, and Jennifer a counselor at Dundee Elementary. This is her second OPS Hall of Fame induction, as she was inducted into South High’s Hall of Fame in 2012.
