John Holland is a world famous psychologist and author of an influential theory of vocational personalities and work environments. Holland incorporated his theory (RIASEC) in his development of the noted Self-Directed Search, an interest inventory and career-planning device that is used to assist people around the world in industry, government and education. It has been translated into 23 languages; more than 22 million copies have been printed. He is also the author of other psychological assessment tools and more than 200 published articles in academic journals. He has directed research programs at the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, American College Testing Program (ACT), and Johns Hopkins University. A Fellow of the American Psychological Association, Holland has received their “Lifetime Award” and numerous other awards for distinguished professional contributions.
John passed away in 2008 at the age of 89.
