Focusing on biblical, spiritual, and philosophical themes and iconic imagery, the paintings of Jay Milder have been recognized and exhibited nationally and internationally in one man shows, galleries, museums and in exhibits in the United States, notably in New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Virginia, Ohio, and California. His work has also been exhibited internationally in Mexico (Guadalajara), in Europe, Brazil, Israel, Puerto Rico, and Yugoslavia. Jay has been proclaimed by critic D. Kuspit as the second best biblical painter of the 20thcentury. Jay developed his talent by studying under several renowned painters and sculptors both in the United States (New York and Chicago) and in Europe, particularly in Paris. Recognition for his work has included the Mexican government’s Honor Award for Artists and a Rainbow Arts Foundation Award. In addition to his work as an artist, Jay lectured for seven years at the Yale Graduate School of Painting and at the City University of New York where he was honored as Emeritus Professor at the City College of New York.
