The achievements of Harlan J. Noddle in the business world can be seen in the many community shopping centers and office buildings which he helped to build. After graduating from Central, Mr. Noddle received a degree in economics from the University of Nebraska at Lincoln in 1958. He served as a first lieutenant in the Army from 1959 until his discharge in1961. Mr. Noddle then joined the American Community Stores Corporation, which operated a regional chain of supermarkets and general-line merchandise stores. While employed there, Mr. Noddle worked in various management capacities including Group Vice President. In 1971, Mr. Noddle formed the Noddle Development Company and built the company into one that has developed or purchased more than 85 shopping centers and five office buildings in 16 states. Headquartered in Omaha, the Noddle Company provides clients with development and management services including site acquisition, development financing, building construction, and property management. In addition to his recognized business success, Mr. Noddle contributed his talents to community service in many ways, including being Chairman of the University of Nebraska Foundation Board of Directors, a board member of the Midlands Board of the National Conference for Community & Justice, President of the Newman Supporting Foundation, Chairman of the Board of Directories of UNMC, and as a board member of the Omaha Symphony and the Omaha Airport Authority.
Harlan passed away in 2005 at the age of 69.
