The academic and athletic credentials of George Crenshaw exemplify his personal achievement. While completing three degrees during his educational career (B.S M.S and ED.D.), he was a social studies teacher, recreational supervisor, head wrestling coach, assistant football coach, program director, assistant principal and high school principal. His career and civic honors include being selected as the Administrator of the Year in Phoenix and recipient of the Omaha Urban League Outstanding Citizen Award. His personal athletic achievements include being Nebraska All-State high school wrestling champion, an NAIA wrestling champion, being selected as an All-American in wrestling, and as an inductee into both the UNO Wrestling Hall of Fame and the Nebraska Black Sports Hall of Fame. Beyond these accomplishments, George was an active member in the communities where he lived, including, while in Omaha, working with the Desegregation Institute Advisory Committee. George’s achievements spring from a quiet competence, also exemplified in his dedication to his wife, Gloria, and the special care he has provided to her.
