“This experience reminded our students – and our staff – that joy, wonder, and creativity are essential components of learning. In a year that often feels high-pressure and academically intense, this field trip provided a shared moment of celebration and reflection that strengthened relationships and broadened our students’ understanding of the arts and of each other.”

Commitment to Closing the Opportunity Gap
This field trip to Steelhouse Omaha provided students – many of whom may not have access to live performing arts experiences – with a joyful, high-quality introduction to Omaha’s art culture scene. By removing financial and logistical barriers, the Central High Foundation ensured that every freshman had equal access to an enriching, performing arts experience.
Translation to College and Career Readiness
Exposure to live performance challenges students to think critically about storytelling, identity, and representation – skills essential to success in college and beyond. The themes of inclusion and resilience highlighted in the performance encouraged reflection and discussion, fostering empathy, curiosity, and a sense of belonging within a broader community.
“The circus showed me that education doesn’t always have to be serious – there’s room for laughter and imagination, too. It helped me see how art and performance can be both meaningful and fun. I am thankful to the Central Foundation for making this experience possible.”
