Pharoah has been a stalwart member of the Central High School Alumni Association, particularly providing leadership on matters related to the school’s veterans. Since joining the association’s board more than a decade ago, the Navy veteran has been active on the History, Alumni Engagement, and Hall of Fame Committees and co-founded the Veterans Committee. Pharoah took the lead to restore the school’s 30-year-old Vietnam memorial, which had suffered weather damage. Pharoah, a prostate cancer survivor in 2011, started the Cruisin’ for a Cure Car Show, to provide free prostate cancer screenings to men over 40 years of age. In 2018, he started the Nebraska Prostate Cancer Alliance, a 501c3 organization raising awareness of prostate cancer in the Omaha metro area. In 2019, he led the push for the creation of a Nebraska prostate cancer license plate.
