Project Proposal
Funding from the CHS Foundation helps cover the costs of registration, transportation, food, and lodging at the Midwest Division 1 Showcase in Kansas City where high schools with top recruiting prospects from a multi-state region play several games to demonstrate their skills for college coaches from 70+ programs ranging from the junior college level through Power 6 schools (Big Ten, Big 12, Big East, SEC, ACC, and Pac 12).
Students Impacted
11 student athletes
Commitment to Closing the Opportunity Gap
One of the goals of the program is to help student-athletes use sports to gain a scholarship that pays all (or at least a large portion) of their college expenses. The more student-athletes who have that opportunity, the greater possibility Central High has in playing a part in a lasting, positive impact in their lives.
Translation to College and Career Readiness
The Midwest Showcase features many high-level players and high-level teams. This tournament shows the players what they are going to need to be able to do to compete at the next level and also shows them what they are capable of accomplishing when they work together. These skills are not just unique to sports, they will prove valuable in their futures professionally and personally.
