Project Proposal
The Haddix STEM Corridor Program is a research opportunity at Creighton University where high school students get to work with professors to perform advanced research with an opportunity to receive a scholarship at Creighton.
Amount Funded
Foundation grant funds help teachers develop an experiential learning classroom model at Central that has increased student interest in science classes and extracurricular science opportunities.
Students Impacted
A strong indicator of students’ increased interest in experiential science opportunities is Central students’ interest in pursuing research internships through summer programs at Creighton and UNO. Central had a record 11 students participate in research internships through UNO’s TRPP Program and 10 students were awarded summer internships at Creighton through the highly competitive Haddix STEM Corridor Project. This was the highest number of any participating area high school.
Commitment to Closing the Opportunity Gap
It is now more accessible and attainable for all interested students to earn a spot in a research program thanks to a classroom grant from the Central High School Foundation.
Translation to College and Career Readiness
This grant will give Central students hands-on experience in creating and testing hypotheses in a collegiate setting.
