Kenneth Stephan was appointed to the Nebraska Supreme Court in 1997 by Governor Ben Nelson. Justice Stephan received a B.A. from the University of Nebraska in 1968 and a J.D. with High Distinction from the University of Nebraska College of Law in 1972. He served in Korea with U. S. Army Intelligence and spent 24 years in Lincoln as a private practice attorney. His civic activities prior to his judicial appointment include board positions with the Lincoln Lancaster County Child Guidance Center, Haymarket Art Gallery, Folsom Children’s Zoo and Botanical Gardens, and Abendmusik/Lincoln. Professional affiliations include the Nebraska State Bar Association, Lincoln Bar Association, American College of Trial Lawyers, Order of the Coif, and Robert Van Pelt American Inn of Court. Justice Stephan lives in Lincoln and regularly returns to Central to speak to Law and Justice classes.
