After graduating from Central and then from Iowa State University with an engineering degree, Paul Kutler continued his studies at ISU, achieving both his M.S. and Ph.D. in aerospace and mechanical engineering. Later, he completed a Master of Science in Management from Stanford University. With this preparation, Paul developed a most successful engineering, business, and teaching career. He worked for the NASA Headquarters and NASA Ames Research Center in many capacities, including research scientist; Chief in the Applied Computational Aerodynamics Branch; Director of Aerodynamics Division (Acting); Manager, High Performance Computing and Communications; Director, Consolidated Supercomputing Management Office; Deputy Director, Information Sciences and Technology; and Director, West Coast Programs. He has been president of Flow Simulations, Inc. (his own company) and an instructor in mechanical and aerospace engineering at San Jose State University. In addition to his professional work, Paul has served in many roles and on many committees with the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics. In support of his profession, Paul has presented lectures, given interviews, provided testimony, presented at national and international seminars and written over 60 scientific publications related to aeronautics, astronautics, fluid dynamics, and computers. Paul has served his local community as a member of several boards, a youth sports coach and an elementary school lecturer, helping with scholarship selection committees, and being an Angel Flight pilot.
