First serving as O-Book Editor at Central, Gunnar Horn went on to teach jouralism and English in the Omaha Public Schools for 42 years, retiring after 40 years at Benson High. He was named the Nebraska Teacher of the year in 1975. He was elected President of the Omaha Education Association, the OEA Foundation, and the Educator’s Credit Union. In collaboration with Josephine Frisbie, former head of Central’s English Department, Gunnar wrote a play and four mystery novels. He worte a handbook on jouralism and English in collaboration with Anne Savidge and Matilda Bailey and edited three high school literature volumes. He has been a regular contributor to the Omaha World-Herald and Magazine of the Midlands.
Gunnar passed away in 2001 at the age of 89.
