Pamela Bartling Buffett is a passionate advocate and supporter of a variety of causes. Motivated by a deep connection to serving mankind, Pamela is particularly drawn to social justice organizations, scholarships that connect students to an education, and improving the quality of life for people with special needs. During her time as a student, Pamela was grateful for Central High School’s commitment to connecting and embracing a variety of cultures to build a diverse community. Being immersed in CHS’s actively inclusive environment gave Pamela the lifetime gift of a deep respect for humanity that has greatly influenced the mission and purpose of her philanthropy. She and her late husband Fred Buffett started The Rebecca Susan Buffett Foundation in memory of their beloved daughter Rebecca. The Rebecca Susan Buffett Foundation supports many organizations that serve people with mental illnesses, provide scholarships for higher education, and serve underprivileged children through the Northstar Foundation and Girls Inc. in Omaha. Pamela’s most recent charitable endeavor was The Fred and Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. Another role Pamela feels blessed to have in her life is being the mother to her daughter Sarah. With a resilient heart and compelling vision, Pamela remains steadfast during times of either success or sadness, both outcomes that she has experienced in her life. Most of all, she finds continuous inspiration, gratitude, and joy in seeing her support empower the many lives she has touched, discovering that giving to others was truly a gift within itself.
