The twin sisters have committed to preserving Central’s vibrant past through their work on the Central Alumni Association’s Historical Committee. They have devoted countless hours to the association, helping the school inventory artifacts from past generations as well as books written by Central authors. In recent years, they have led efforts to organize the school’s 6,000 artifacts in a new archive room inside the school’s new addition. The archival database is available to teachers to help support classroom lessons. The “history ladies” have also engaged with current history and English students by helping create lessons that include school artifacts, making the history accessible to new generations. They have also led the ongoing renovation of cases in the courtyard, which display some of the school’s most distinctive artifacts. The effort also included the creation of an all-new display case in the new addition that displays the history of Central’s building and location on Omaha’s Capitol Hill.
