Pete has left his mark in Omaha as the longest serving member of the City Council in Omaha history. He was first elected to the City Council in 2009, was re-elected to a fifth four-year term in 2025, and has served several terms as President of the City Council. The third generation in his family to attend Central, Pete after college held senior management positions with the Greater Omaha Chamber and the Peter Kiewit Foundation and was Deputy Chief of Staff to the Mayor. Pete also works as Vice President of Public Affairs for CHI Health, one of Omaha’s largest employers, and has served on numerous boards and commissions. He earned his master’s degree in public administration from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, has received a UNO Citation for Alumni Achievement, and was named an elected official of the year by the American Society of Public Administration.
