Rogers has served his country for decades as a senior enlisted leader and civilian in the U.S. military, earning numerous commendations. He spent 24 years with the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services in a variety of roles, joining the U.S. Marine Corps reserves when he was in his late 20s. He deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003 with a combat engineer detachment and was later assigned to the Pentagon as a congressional liaison. In 2005, he transferred to the United States Strategic Command at Offutt Air Force Base, where he currently serves as an international affairs specialist and analyst. Other duty assignments include deployments to Uganda and to train forces in Afghanistan. His many decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal and the Outstanding Civilian Service Medal. Volunteer work includes veteran service organizations, serving on the national board of Wounded Warriors Family Support, and providing scholarships for OPS JROTC cadets, including at Central.
